Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners fell to the Fort Worth Cats by a score of 2-1 in eleven innings at La Grave Field on Wednesday night.

After being scoreless for the first three innings, the Roadrunners (33-32) got the scoring started in the fourth inning when Travis Clark singled to start the rally, then advanced to the second on a sacrifice by Trevor Whyte. Clark stole third base and scored on an error by the catcher which gave Edinburg the 1-0 lead.

The Cats (39-26) were held scoreless until the ninth inning when Josh Band reached on a walk and moved over to second base on a sacrifice hit by Cameron Monger. Band reached third base on a wild pitch and Ryan Miller hit a single that scored Band which made it one all to send the game into extra innings.

After a scoreless tenth inning, Fort Worth used a David Bergin solo homerun which was his 13th of the season to provide the Cats with the victory.

Steven Nikonchik (3-6) earned the win for the Cats after pitching three scoreless innings on one hit and four strikeouts.

Antony Bello (3-6) took the loss for Edinburg after he pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing a run on a hit.

The Roadrunners will play the third of the four game series against the Cats at La Grave Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
