Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Road Warriors did not have many opportunities on Thursday evening, but they took advantage of one in the top of the seventh to score three runs for a 4-2 victory over the Barnstormers in front of 5,190 at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster's loss, coupled with York's 16-12 win at Long Island, dropped the Barnstormers Freedom Division lead back to two games.

Danny Gonzalez led off the seventh with a single to center off starter Matt Wright, who then left in favor of Tim McNab. Daniel Jordan greeted McNab with another lined single to center, putting runners at first and second. Looking to advance the runners, Josh Johnson placed a bunt over toward third. Aaron Herr fielded the ball but threw wildly high. By the time the ball was chased down in right field, two runs had scored, and Johnson had settled into third, tying the game at 2-2. McNab (2-1) got Alberto Cruz to bounce to third with the runner holding. Jonel Pacheco was intentionally walked to set up a double play, but Amadeo Zazueta foiled the strategy lifting a sacrifice fly to deep right.

Carlos Sosa added a run with a homer leading off the eighth on the first pitch by Kris Regas.

The Barnstormers used solo homers by Tommy Everidge and Fernando Seguignol to grab an early lead off Miguel Martinez but could not produce anything else on the night. Saul Rivera (1-0) stranded a pair of runners in the sixth inning when he got Sam Wiley to ground to short. Lancaster squandered a pair of walks in the seventh when Seguignol struck out. Closer Adam Thomas allowed a single to right by Wiley to open the ninth before retiring three consecutive hitters for his fifth save.

Wright allowed six hits and two walks over six innings while striking out three.

Lancaster heads to Bridgeport for a three-game weekend series. John Halama (1-1) will pitch the opener for the Barnstormers against fellow left-hander Matt Smith (1-3). Game time is 7:05 on Friday evening. The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com.
