RJ Salvato Selected First by IceRays in 2013 Draft

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi IceRays went in the direction they originally planned choosing four forwards and one defensemen out of the five total picks that they had in the 2012 North American Hockey League Draft.

The first overall pick for Corpus Christi came in the second round, 37th overall selecting RJ Salvato of the Colorado Rampage U18. Salvato, a 94' birth year registered 12 goals and 17 assists for 29pts in 40 games played.

The IceRays didn't have long between picks with the 44th overall pick approaching. With that, Corpus Christi chose Josh Ward, a forward from Compuware U18. Ward is a 95' birth year and was the leading scorer with 16 goals. The forward also added seven assists for 23pts in 30 games played.

In the third round of the draft, the Rays' notched Jesse Foskey from the Dallas Stars U16 squad. Foskey, at 96' birth year, was the only defensemen Corpus Christi picked this year and notched four goals and eight assists in 40 games.

With only two draft picks remaining for the IceRays, they moved back to the offensive side of the puck and traveled overseas scooping up Nathan Krusko from the TPH Thunder along with Maurin Bouvet who played in France for the U20 National Team and HC Amiens.
