RiverRats Conclude Successful First Tryout

ERIE, PA - (1/25/09) With the elite Pittsburgh Passion women's football team practicing next door, the Erie RiverRats conducted their first open tryout for the 2009 season this past Saturday night. Participants were tested in the bench press, the 40-yard dash, the short shuttle, and agility drills before going to more position specific drills. Athletes from the Pittsburgh area came to the Greentree Sportsplex to show their skills in front of Rats head coach Steven G. Folmar and his staff. A few of those athletes may yet don a RiverRats jersey before the season begins. "We saw a few guys today that we will be taking a look at again", said Coach Folmar, "there was definitely some talented athletes out here tonight".

Now the Rats turn their attention to the Cleveland, Ohio area with the RiverRats second tryout being conducted Saturday, January 31, at The Edge Sports Performance Academy, 9550 Ravenna Rd., in Twinsburg, Ohio. Registration in Twinsburg will begin at 7am with players going on the field at 8am. The entrance fee is $50 at the door, or $45 if players pre-register on the Erie RiverRats website. Players should wear comfortable athletic shoes (no cleats), and workout clothing to the tryout. T-shirts will be provided.

The AIFA season begins its third season of operations in March with 16 teams from coast to coast and two additional franchises (Richmond, VA and Trenton, NJ) scheduled for the 2010 season.
