This Saturday, June 6th, 2015 with a 7:00pm Kick Off Time, The Erie Explosion will host the Alabama Hammers at the Erie Insurance Arena. This Game is the Erie Explosions annual Military Appreciation Night. However, this year's game will serve as more than just football.
The Erie Explosion will welcome several veteran survivors of D-Day, June 6th, 1944. The Honorary Consul of France at Pittsburgh, Mr. Jean-Dominique Le Garrec will be in attendance to present the French Chevalier Legion of Honor Medal to Mr. Andy Simkovitch of Lake City, a US Navy Veteran of the Utah and Omaha Beach Landings.
This presentation will be a first for many residents to witness a once in a lifetime presentation. Tickets are on sale now at the Erie Insurance Arena Box Office, veterans with valid identification may purchase up to two tickets at a discounted rate of $7.50 per ticket.
We encourage you to attend this Saturday's game and witness this memorable ceremony. A player jersey auction will take place immediately following the game, sponsored for the second year by Harley Davidson of Erie. All proceeds of this auction will benefit the Erie PA Soldiers and Sailors Home.
