RiverRats Add to Coaching Staff For 2007

Pittsburgh RiverRats Head Coach Shawn Liotta has announced several additions to the teams coaching staff for the 2007 season. The team has added Ed Jenkins as Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs and Casey Phillips as an offensive assistant. "I am very pleased with our coaching staff we have assembled for the 2007 season, and I look forward to working towards our goals for 2007, commented Liotta."

Ed Jenkins who will serve as the teams defensive coordinator has experience at the college, indoor/arena, and high school level. Jenkins served as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division III level at Salve Regina University and Colby College. In 2000 Jenkins served as the Head Coach/Director of Operations for the Shreveport Bombers/Boise Stallions of the IPFL leading the expansion franchise to a 6-10 record in 2000 and 8-8 record in 2001. After two seasons in the IPFL, Ed Jenkins rejoined the college football scene at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselear Indiana where he coached linebackers on a talented defensive unit that was nationally ranked. Jenkins served as the General Manager of the Roanoke Steam of the AF2 during the 2002 season. In January of 2003, Ed headed to Italy where he was the defensive coordinator of the Gallarate Kings of the Italian American Football League. The Kings defense ranked #2 overall in the league and among the top 5 in various categories. Ed Jenkins currently serves as the head football coach at Leechburg Area High School where he has just completed his first season.

Casey Phillips joins the coaching staff as an offensive assistant for the 2007 season. Phillips has served as an assistant at Brentwood High School for the past two seasons, serving as the teams QB/WR coach and Head JV Coach, Prior to Brentwood, Phillips served as an assistant coach at Baldwin High School from 1997-2005. Phillips who is a teacher in the Brentwood School District is also the Assistant Athletic Director at Brentwood.
