Lafayette, La.--Another night, another sluggish start for the Louisiana IceGators.

Despite a late comeback, the IceGators' flat-footed start doomed them to a 5-4 overtime loss against the Peoria Rivermen. Alec Hagaman and Tim Hall, who scored the game-winner, led Peoria with two goals each.

The IceGators and the Rivermen will square off once again Saturday night in the final game of this weekend's three-game series. Game time in the Cajundome is set for 7:05 p.m.

"We came out very flat and didn't pick up our way until the start of the second period," said IceGators head coach Drew Omicioli. "The first minute-and-a-half of the second period was great, and then it was all downhill from there.

"The guys are struggling to adapt to playing the systems and it shows tremendously. I give Peoria credit. They took advantage of our breakdowns, and they took two points from us again."

Peoria jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening 12:30 of the game thanks to goals from former IceGators Adam Stuart and Hall. The IceGators cut the deficit in half with 2:11 left in the frame when Jeremy Boyer scored on a power play.

The IceGators briefly took a 3-2 lead early in the second period. Chris Wilson scored at the 1:15 mark to tie the game. Eighteen seconds later, Blake Hietala put Louisiana ahead with a score of his own.

Peoria rebounded and quickly regained the lead. Alec Hagaman scored back-to-back goals, on at the 3:48 mark and another at the 9:52 mark, to put Peoria ahead 4-3.

The IceGators clawed back, tying the game with 9:08 remaining in regulation when Geordie Wudrick went top shelf.

Peoria ended overtime quickly, securing the victory on Hall's second goal of the night 74 seconds into the extra frame. Stuart and Garrett Vermeersch, who recorded three helpers on the night, assisted on the game-winning goal.

Omicioli is promising roster adjustments ahead of Saturday night's rematch.

"I will continue to change the lineup until we have the right men who are willing to buy into the system and work for 60 minutes," Omicioli said. "We need two points to close out the weekend. Anything less is unacceptable."
