Rivermen Training Camp: Day Two Notes
October 15, 2013 - SPHL (SPHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
With one session in the books, the Peoria Rivermen will open their second day of training camp Tuesday with a 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. practice at Carver Arena. There are currently 27 players on the team's training camp roster, which continues to be fluid and changes daily.
Peoria started Monday with a 26-man roster for its inaugural SPHL training camp. Players on the initial roster included defenseman Nick Wheeler, who was immediately called up to CHL St. Charles after practice, and goaltender Russ Stein, who was released by ECHL Kalamazoo on Saturday.
Among those not present were defensemen Cole Ruwe and Jarrett Rush, as well as center Nick Prockow and Rivermen Hall of Famer Trevor Baker, who requested his release from the team and never made it to camp.
Ruwe, a Pekin native, was excused as his fianc̮̩ was expecting to deliver the couple's first child. He will also miss Tuesday's sessions. Rush, 28, is still in camp with ECHL Wheeling and it is unclear at this point if he will make it to Peoria during camp. Prockow, 24, has been released by ECHL Idaho but has yet to report to Peoria.
Additions to the roster since day one include wingers Brandon Parkhouse and Steve Mason, who each arrived in Peoria overnight. Parkhouse, 25, was released by ECHL Ontario and Mason, 25, was released by ECHL Florida. Both are expected to skate for the Rivermen on Tuesday.
Below is a full list of the remaining training camp practice times. All times and locations are subject to change.
