Rivermen Game Notes: November 22 vs Louisiana

ON HIATUS

After last night's line brawl, the SPHL has suspended Louisiana players Anthony Pisano and Tyler Barr, Louisiana coach Drew Omicioli, and Peoria's Adam Stuart indefinitely pending review. All four will miss today's series finale.

BRINGING BACK SUMMERS

Tonight marks a return to the Rivermen lineup for veteran winger Matt Summers after Summers served a two-game suspension following a boarding penalty against him against Knoxville 11/14 that garnered a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct.

POWERING UP AT HOME

Both Rivermen goals in Saturday night's game came on the powerplay after Peoria had been 0-for-20 with the man advantage on their home ice to start the season. The Rivermen powerplay unit now ranks 5th in the league at 13% overall.

THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH

Peoria out-shot Louisiana 49-20 Friday night and 40-28 Saturday evening, for a series total of 89-48. The Rivermen are now fifth in the SPHL in shots for per game, and the Peoria defense leads the SPHL in fewest shots allowed per game.

TOUGH NIGHT BETWEEN THE PIPES

Saturday night's game was the first professional loss in goal for Peoria rookie Francois Brassard. In two professional games, both against Louisiana, Brassard is 1-1-0 with a 3.60 GAA and a .857 save percentage. Brassard was pulled after giving up four goals in the first two periods and was replaced in net by Kyle Rank, who stopped all six shots he faced in one period of relief.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After today's series finale the Rivermen will remain on their home ice for two more games next Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28 against the Macon Mayhem before going on the road for a game at Knoxville December 3 followed by a pair of games at Mississippi December 4-5.
