THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER

Last night's Rivermen loss included a pair of assists by defenseman Brandon Greenside to push his team-leading total to 30. Greenside enters play tonight leading all SPHL defensemen with 30 assists and 35 points, and his +32 plus/minus rating ranks Greenside first among all SPHL skaters, followed by teammate Chris Wilson on the league leaderboard at +25.

I'D LIKE TO BUY A VOWEL

Last night's 3-2 Rivermen loss included a goal and an assist from veteran defenseman Dave Pszenyczny to give him eight goals and 11 assists in 27 points since joining the Rivermen. The Sterling Heights, MI native has 79 goals and 152 assists to go with 1121 penalty minutes over the course of his 553-game pro career, and he's scored four points in his last three games after he also logged a goal and an assist last Friday in Huntsville.

THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH

This season, the Rivermen have out-shot opponents 562-433 and out-scored foes by double, 60-30, in the first period of games, each the widest such margin for any team in any period this season. Overall, the Peoria offense ranks second in the SPHL in shots on goal per game at 34.22, trailing only Pensacola's 35.33. Defensively, the Rivermen also rank second, allowing only 29.57 shots on net per game. When scoring first, the Rivermen are 30-4-2, and when leading after one period Peoria is 23-3-0 this season.

FEEL THE POWER

Last night's Rivermen game included a pair of power-play goals for each team, with only one of the game's five goals scored at even strength. Peoria enters play tonight with the SPHL's third best power play unit at 16% while Pensacola is sixth at 15.5%. On the penalty kill, the Rivermen are sixth in the league this year at 85% while the Ice Flyers are seventh at 84.7%.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After tonight's game the Rivermen will conclude the series in Pensacola Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. After that, the Rivermen will return home for a pair of games March 25 & 26 against Mississippi, then make their final road trip of the year when they play games April 1 & 2 in Knoxville before finishing the regular season on home ice April 7-9 against Columbus.
