
Rivermen, Fan Advisory Board Create Code of Conduct

Peoria, IL (September 13, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen President/CEO Bart Rogers announced today, in association with the team's 10-member Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and with support from the Peoria Civic Center (PCC), that a Rivermen Fan Code of Conduct has been established.
"Our Fan Advisory Board created this code to allow all of our fans to enjoy Rivermen Hockey as enthusiastically, comfortably and safely as possible," Rogers said. "We took great care, utilizing everyone's input, to make this happen, and all fans in every section of the building will enjoy their Rivermen experience to the fullest because of these guidelines. We also feel that our new 'Three Strikes' rule will provide a significant pathway to defusing any problematic situations."
Rivermen Three Strikes Rule:
1) Fan or group of fans to receive courteous and firm verbal warning from PCC staff (security, usher, et al.);
2) Rivermen staff member (President, et al.) to intervene and discuss situation, along with consequences;
3) Immediate dismissal.
The Rivermen Fan Code of Conduct (RFCC) will be implemented and adhered to by all Rivermen staff and employees, Rivermen FAB members and PCC ushering, security and management. Fans are encouraged to seek out a Rivermen staff member or FAB member with any questions regarding the RFCC, which follows this press release.
A special thank you goes to Rivermen FAB Secretary Betty Stone, who was instrumental in compiling the RFCC, along with disseminating and categorizing all input.
The Rivermen host the Chicago Wolves in preseason action on Saturday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena in the front end of a home-and-home set between the clubs. And on Tuesday, September 26, Peoria faces off against the Iowa Stars at 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena in the opening salvo of a home-and-home affair.

Rivermen Fan Code of Conduct
The Peoria Rivermen, the Rivermen Fan Advisory Board and the Peoria Civic Center (PCC) are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable, and family-friendly sports and entertainment experience at Carver Arena and the PCC. The following guidelines have been established regarding fan conduct.
Fans are encouraged to cheer, sing, and otherwise support their team while remaining respectful and courteous to their fellow patrons, PCC Employees, and PCC property.
Fans will not engage in disruptive behavior, including foul, racial, obscene or abusive language or gestures towards, or in reference to, a player, coach, referee, fan or staff member.
Fans will not engage in fighting and are prohibited from throwing objects on the ice. Those who engage in any of these actions will be ejected immediately from the venue and remanded to the proper authorities.
Adult fans of age, who choose to consume alcoholic beverages, will do so in a responsible manner. Intervention with an impaired, intoxicated or underage guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner by trained personnel at the arena. Those appearing intoxicated will be denied entry or will be subject to ejection from the PCC.
Fans may keep any puck hit into the stands as a souvenir. However, fans may not go onto the ice or throw objects onto the ice. Violation will result in immediate ejection and/or arrest and prosecution.
Fans will comply with requests from team and PCC staff regarding building operations and from local authorities regarding emergency response procedures.
Fans will sit only in their ticketed seats and show their tickets when requested to gain access to their seat or section.
Fans will smoke in designated smoking areas only.
Fans will not exhibit any obscene, indecent or inciting messages on signs, clothing or other material.
Fans will not use air horns, whistles, and laser pointers, which seriously detract from the quality of the spectator experience and could have a negative impact on the outcome of a game.
Fans will be treated in a consistent, professional and courteous manner by all PCC staff and team personnel.
Fans will be courteous to PCC neighbors upon entering and leaving the arena.
Banging on the glass is permitted but kicking, rocking or swaying will be NOT tolerated. Any violators of the latter will be subject the Rivermen Three Strikes Rule (see below).
Leaning over the glass in the bench areas will NOT be permitted, and any use of profanity; any throwing of objects at the players, into the bench area or on the ice; and any attempt to make undue or unsolicited contact with the players is grounds for immediate dismissal from Carver Arena and reprimand from the proper authorities.
Personal photography will be permitted but videography, outside of Pro Video Productions and media outlets, is prohibited.
PCC staff has been trained to intervene where necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met. Fans are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest Rivermen staff member, usher, security guard or guest services staffer. Fans who choose not to adhere to these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund, revocation of season tickets and may also be in violation of city ordinances resulting in possible arrest and prosecution.
Rivermen Three Strikes Rule (to apply in most situations where immediate dismissal is deemed not necessary):
1) Fan or group of fans to receive courteous and firm verbal warning from PCC staff (security, usher, et al.); 2) Rivermen staff member (President, et al.) to intervene and discuss situation, along with consequences; 3) Immediate dismissal.
