Southaven, Miss. - David Wilson stopped 40 shots and Deven Stillar had a goal and two assists as the Mississippi RiverKings won their second game in as many nights as they knocked off the Mississippi Surge 4-1.
The RiverKings got the scoring started in the first period as Kevin Fukala pounced on a bouncing puck behind Nick Eno and slid it past the Surge's netminder to give the 'Kings an early 1-0 lead. Darrell Stoddard and Kyle Lundale were credited with the assists.
In the third period, Deven Stillar gave the RiverKings an insurance marker 3:10 into the frame, as he and Ken Selby connected on a two-on-one to give the 'Kings a two-goal lead.
The Surge wasted no time in answering back. Just over two minutes later, Phillip Ischi picked up his first goal of the season as he redirected a pass from Adam Stuart past David Wilson to cut the RiverKings' lead to one.
Thirty seconds later, Jeff Topilko ripped a Deven Stillar pass over the glove of Eno to give the RiverKings a 3-1 lead. With Nick Eno on the bench, Matt Whitehead tallied the empty netter, sliding the puck in from the red line.
David Wilson (12-6-2) picked up his second win in as many nights as he stopped 40 of 41 shots. Nick Eno stopped 15 of 18 shots against.
The RiverKings return home on Tuesday, February 14 to take on the Huntsville Havoc at 7:05.
