Louisiana IceGators News Release
Pensacola, Florida--If you could pick a song title to sum up the Lousiana IceGators' recent stretch of games, it's "When You're Hot, You're Hot." For the second time in four nights, the IceGators knock off the Pensacola Ice Flyers. This time, the IceGators earn the victory on the road by the final score of 7-2. Josh Boyd had a breakout performance, picking up a hat trick and an assist. Robert Short contributed two powerplay goals--the first and the last goals of the night. Tyler Lyon and August Aiken also scored. This triumph, Louisiana's fifth consecutive win, improves the IceGators road record to .500. More importantly, this victory gives the IceGators sole possession of fourth place in the SPHL standings.
"The boys stepped up tonight," said IceGators head coach Kevin Kaminski. "They were road warriors, especially the line of Boyd, (Alex) Morton, and (Josh) Duplantis. Thy came to play."
The IceGators put together one of their strongest road performances of the season to earn the win. The top powerplay unit in the league were successful on two out of three powerplay opportunities. Defense and goaltending were strong yet again. B. J. O'Brien stopped 29 of the Ice Flyers 31 shots.
Kaminski could not be more pleased of his team's effort and performance. "I'm very proud of the way the boys are gelling," he said. "Everyone is taking leadership roles and stepping up to the plate."
The IceGators return to the Tuesday night when they host the Mississippi Surge in the Cajundome. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 P. M.
