Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings announced that the team has finalized their hockey operations staff with the hiring of Brian Schmidt as the team's new Equipment Manager. Schmidt replaces Patrick "Loaf" Stevens after Stevens stepped away from hockey earlier this summer.

"When I was looking for a position this summer, I heard great things about the RiverKings organization from around the hockey community," said Schmidt. "I knew coming here would put me in a well-run and professional organization."

The 2013-14 season marks Schmidt's sixth season as an equipment manager. The Dearborn, Michigan native started his career with the Rockford IceHogs of the United Hockey League before joining the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the Central Hockey League. From there, Schmidt worked for Elmira, Chicago and Bakersfield of the ECHL before joining the RiverKings.

Schmidt joins longtime RiverKings Athletic Trainer Rick Hanlon and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser to round out the Hockey Operations staff for the 2013-14 season.
