Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings, the longest continually operating professional sports franchise in the greater Memphis area, and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser have announced today that they have re-signed defenseman Mike Grace for training camp. Terms and conditions were not released.
Grace, 26, enters his third professional season, and his third season with the RiverKings, in 2015-16. The Rochester, New York native had 13 points (1g, 12a) while posting a plus-13 rating, which was sixth-best on the team and second among defensemen, in 2014-15. From January 16 through the end of the regular season, a span of 27 games, Grace had a plus-14 rating along with seven points (1g, 6a).
"I'm happy to have 'Gracer' back for another season," said Landmesser. "Entering his third season I expect him to continue to get better and be a big part of our 'D' core."
In two seasons with the RiverKings, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound defenseman has played all but one game in the regular season. In 111 career games with Mississippi, Grace has 43 points (4g, 39a) and a plus-12 rating. He has four points (2g, 2a) in eight career SPHL playoff games. Grace was named to the All-SPHL Rookie Team in 2013-14 after registering 30 points (3g, 27a).
"I'm excited to come back to the RiverKings and thankful to Coach Landmesser for giving me the opportunity to do so," said Grace "I hope to build off of last year and win a championship in 2015-16."
The Mississippi RiverKings are proud to be the longest, continually operating sports franchise in the Memphis area, as they begin their 24th season in 2015. The home opener is scheduled for Friday, October 23 at the Landers Center. Groups of 15 or more who purchase a group for that night will receive an identical group package to any other regular season game for free.
