SOUTHAVEN --- Derek Landmesser had a goal and an assist, Travis Banga scored the game winner and Miguel Beaudry stopped 25 shots including a game-saver down the stretch to help the Memphis RiverKings to a 3-2 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas Thursday night at the DeSoto Civic Center.
Memphis snapped a brief two game losing streak and, in the process, handed Fort Worth their first road loss of the season. The game didn't start well for the RiverKings, though, as Derek Seal scored on the Brahmas first shot of the game at 2:09 of the first. The RiverKings came back with a power play goal from Landmesser, his fifth of the season, at 11:16 of the first to tie the game going into the intermission.
The RiverKings owned the second period by out-shooting the visitors 12-4 and outscoring them 2-0. Darrell Stoddard scored his third of season as he tipped in a Ryan Campbell shot at 8:13 and Banga's goal came off a nice feed from behind the net from Ken Goetz at 12:52 to make it 3-1.
The third period was scoreless until Corey Stillman swatted in a rebound in front of the net at the 8:02 mark to tighten the score at 3-2. Beaudry's lead-preserving save came on a rebound after a break away by Stillman. On the put back attempt by the Brahmas, Beaudry was on his belly and reached up to spear the puck as it was seemingly headed for the back of the net. Beaudry, who was making his first appearance in goal since last Thursday's loss to Corpus Christi, improved his record to 2-3-0 as the team moved to 4-6-0.
The RiverKings and Brahmas play again tomorrow night at 7:05 at the DCC.
