
RiverKings on the Radio in the Mid-South

Mississippi RiverKings News Release
(Southaven, MS) --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) will soon be hitting the radio airwaves, both ahead of and during the upcoming season. The CHL franchise has announced its plans for broadcast coverage of the team's 18th season of professional hockey in the Mid-South.
All 64 home and away RiverKings regular season games, and both exhibition games, will be covered with live play-by-play coverage on the Memphis stations of the Flinn Broadcasting Company, primarily on Sports 56, WHBQ (560 AM). This will be the tenth season that WHBQ-AM has aired RiverKings hockey for either all or part of the season.
Media Coordinator Bob Bakken is back to provide the play-by-play coverage this season, his second with the RiverKings. Pre-game coverage will start 15 minutes prior to the first face off each night. Games that cannot be broadcast on Sports 56 due to previous commitments will be aired on other Flinn Broadcasting stations, primarily on 96.1 FM, The Pig.
RiverKings' exhibition games on Friday, October 9 at home against Bossier-Shreveport and on the road from Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday, October 10, will begin the RiverKings' broadcast coverage of the season. Air-time both nights will be at 6:50 PM, prior to a 7:05 PM face off.
Coach Kevin "Killer" Kaminski's coach's show will be back on Sports 56, each Monday night that the RiverKings are home during the season. The program this year will air from O'Charley's Restaurant, located at 357 Goodman Road West in Southaven, just east of I-55.
The first program from O'Charley's will be Monday, October 12th at 7:00 PM.
Additionally, 730 Fox Sports (KQPN-AM) is joining the RiverKings radio family this season with a weekly show at 6:00 PM each Wednesday night, hosted by Bob Bakken, that not only will talk about the RiverKings, but touch on other items around the CHL and elsewhere in the hockey world.
The first program from 730 Fox Sports will air Wednesday, September 30 and will be heard each Wednesday night during the run of the RiverKings' season. Guests for the first program will include Kaminski, RiverKings' defenseman Derek Landmesser, and CHL Commissioner Duane Lewis.
Season and individual game tickets are now available for another exciting season of RiverKings hockey in Southaven, beginning Friday, October 16th against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 PM. Call and reserve your season tickets now by calling the RiverKings at 662-342-1755.
