PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Mississippi RiverKings collected their first road victory of the season, as they knocked off the Pensacola Ice Flyers 4-3 in Pensacola Saturday night.

The RiverKings got the scoring started midway through the first. Jeremy Dawes picked up his second goal of the year on a pass from Patrick Gaul on a two-on-one down low to beat Ross MacKinnon to put the 'Kings up one. Gaul then added a goal of his own, a redirect from Nick Walsh at the 15:27 mark of the first as the visitors took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Pensacola put on the pressure in the second, scoring three goals and peppering David Wilson with 18 shots. Andrew Harrison beat Wilson off a rebound at the 9:03 mark to cut the RiverKings lead to two, before Leo Thomas converted on a Ryan Raven pass to tie the game at two, two minutes later.

But the RiverKings came back. Matt Whithead connected with Todd Hosmer on a two-on-one as Hosmer converted for his third goal of the year to put the 'Kings back on top. The lead was only temporary as Jeremy Gates scored two and a half minutes later from Ryan Salvis and Ryan Raven to tie the game at three going into the third.

It did not take long for the RiverKings to retake the league, and collect the final goal, in the third. Darrell Stoddard found the back of the net as Patrick Gaul and Mike Baran assisted on what would be the game-winning goal.

David Wilson (2-1-1) stopped 39 of 42 shots for the RiverKings in the win. Ross MacKinnon (3-2-0) steared aside 29 of 33 shots against in the loss of Pensacola.

The RiverKings return home on Friday night to take on the Mississippi Surge at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a free mustache to commemorate the end of "Movember."
