Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, Miss – The two-time defending CHL Champion Memphis RiverKings are teaming up with sponsors and vendors to put on the first-ever "Kings Fest" in team history.

Kings Fest, which will be held at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, October 11, will be a chance for fans to watch the team practice, take tours of the facility, attend an autograph session with the players, and participate in a free public skate on the newly-painted ice.

The RiverKings, who are in the midst of forming their roster for the upcoming season, will start practice promptly at 10 a.m., with a short break for ice resurfacing about an hour into the session. The practice session is open to the public, and all fans are encouraged to attend to get a sneak preview of the new team.

Fans will also have the opportunity to be well-fed, as a smorgasbord of complimentary food and drink will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis from RiverKings restaurant sponsors, including Chick-Fil-A, McAlister's, Lenny's, Krispy Kreme, the DeSoto Civic Center Food and Beverage department and others.

The RiverKings will introduce the Cellular South Slap Shot inflatable for fans working on their hockey shooting skills, and will have a moonbounce for children. Staff will conduct behind-the-scenes facility tours, letting fans get a sneak peek at the locker rooms and other places where the players spend time. The festivities will be accompanied by a live broadcast from FM 100.

Select RiverKings sponsors will have booths on the concourse. Synergy Massage Therapy will offer free chair massages. Team chiropractor Gary Hermansen of DeSoto Chiropractic will conduct free spinal exams. Team merchandise will be available for sale and the Central Hockey League President's Cup will be on display.

The box office will be open all day. Season Ticket Holders can test drive their seats, and interested fans may get a look at what's still available.
