Mississippi RiverKings News Release
Bossier City, LA --- Goalie John DeCaro stopped 34 of 36 shots to help the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs to a 4-2 win over the Memphis RiverKings Tuesday night at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, LA. Rick Kozak and Travis Banga each scored power play goals to account for the RiverKings' goals. The RiverKings now head to Youngstown for a two game series with the second place Steelhounds on Friday and Saturday. The RiverKings remain four points ahead of Youngstown in the Northeast Division heading into the big showdown in eastern Ohio.
Kozak started the scoring with his ninth of the season and his eighth in the last seven games at 10:58 of the first. The Mudbugs scored the next two to make it a 2-1 score. That score would last through the first and second periods. Banga's goal, his team leading 15th, tied the game at 7:11 of the third period, but Karlis Zirnis scored what would be the game winner at 13:52. Daniel Pegoraro slipped in an empty netter to round out the scoring with 1:05 left.
The RiverKings outshot the Mudbugs 36-23 for the game and 30-11 in the second and third periods.
Both games this weekend in Youngstown will be 6:05 CST starts.
