Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs hosted the Memphis RiverKings for the second time in four nights at CenturyTel Center and both teams picked up where they left off on Friday. The Mudbugs went down 1-0 after Rick Kozak scored on the powerplay. The Bugs answered on a powerplay of their own as Jason Williamson held the point and fed a wide open Chris Abbott who lifted the puck by Larry Sterling. The Mudbugs took the lead when Dan Wildfong carried the puck in on a shorthanded opportunity. He circled out of the corner and fed the puck back to Forbes MacPherson on the weak side who beat Larry Sterling for his first shorthanded goal of the year.
The second period was filled with back and forth action but no scoring by either team.
Memphis tied it up in the third on a powerplay goal by Travis Banga. The Mudbugs forecheck would not slow down late in the game. Daniel Pegoraro made quick work of a turnover and raced into the attacking zone with Karlis Zirnis. Pegoraro nudged the puck over to Zirnis who tapped it past Memphis goaltender Larry Sterling for the go ahead goal. Daniel Pegoraro tacked on the empty net goal and the Mudbugs skated away with a 4-2 win.
