Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. â The Memphis RiverKings released the schedule for the six mini-plans they will offer for the upcoming 2003-04 CHL season. Mini-plans are available in nine and 17 game increments. The RiverKings 2003-04 home opener is set for Saturday, October 18th, against Fort Worth at the DeSoto Civic Center. Join the âKings as they celebrate a second straight President's Cup title. For ticket information call the RiverKings office at (662) 342-1755 or go online to www.riverkings.com.
The âKings will feature a pair of 17-game mini-plans, the Slap Shot and the Power Play. Both plans feature the home opener on October 18th and the December 31st New Year's Eve game against Indianapolis. In addition both plans feature 11 weekend dates, a matchup against the expansion Colorado Eagles, and one game versus the Oklahoma City Blazers. The Slap Shot features three games against Northeast division rivals the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and the Indianapolis Ice, along with two games against the Fort Worth Brahmas. The Power Play features four games against Bossier-Shreveport, three games against Indianapolis and two games against Fort Worth. The Slap Shot plan is highlighted by a rematch of the President's Cup Finals against the Austin Ice Bats on March 4th, while the Power Play plan is highlighted by visits from the New Mexico Scorpions and Laredo Bucks.
"This 17-game mini-plan will really allow the fans to follow the âKings," said RiverKings Director of Ticket Sales Scott Tanfield. "We decided to construct these plans so the fans who couldn't commit to the full season ticket package now have the opportunity to come on board as a package holder and receive some of the benefits like priority ordering for the playoffs, and a free t-shirt for each ticket package purchased. Fans will get the home opener, New Year's and more. They will also get to watch the RiverKings take on their Northeast division rivals while still seeing many of the other premier teams in the CHL."
The âKings will feature four nine-game mini-plans, the Wrist Shot, Five Hole, Drop Pass, and Glove Save. All four plans feature the home opener on October 18th and the New Year's Eve game against Indianapolis. The Wrist Shot has seven weekend dates while the Glove Save contains six and the Five Hole and Drop Pass each have five. The Wrist Shot has six games against Northeast division rivals, three against Bossier-Shreveport, two against Indianapolis and one against Fort Worth. The Glove Save has two games each against Bossier-Shreveport, Indianapolis and Fort Worth. The Drop Pass has two games against Fort Worth and Indianapolis and one game against Bossier-Shreveport. The Five Hole contains two games against Indianapolis and one game each against Fort Worth and Bossier-Shreveport. The Wrist Shot welcomes New Mexico and the San Angelo Saints, while the Glove Save has the Wichita Thunder and the Tulsa Oilers. The Five Hole and the Drop Pass each contain games against Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Laredo.
"These nine-game plans allow fans to get a taste of what CHL action is all about," said Tanfield. "From the Mudbugs to the Ice and Blazers it is a perfect gift."
