Memphis Xplorers News Release

SOUTHAVEN---Maddox Sports, the owner and operator of the Memphis RiverKings hockey club and the Memphis Xplorers arena football team, announced today that they are closing the upper bowl of seating at the DeSoto Civic Center for games effective immediately.

"This is a way for existing and potential season ticket holders to get closer to the action," General Manager Trey Medlock said. "Their sight lines will change, but their cost will not."

With this decision, fans will be able to buy season tickets in the lower bowl at the same prices as they were in the upper bowl. This policy will also be in effect for walk-up sales. The upper bowl will be used only if there is an overflow crowd. There are just over 4,800 seats in the lower bowl of the 8,400 seat DeSoto Civic Center.

As far as ticket pricing, there will still be five pricing categories but all seats will be located in the lower bowl, with one exception.

RiverKings season ticket holders that want to be in the upper level will have the option of purchasing seats in the two sections at center ice on either side, sections 218 and 206.

"We want to bring the fans closer together to increase the excitement in the building," Director of Ticket Sales Jody O'Donnell said. "I think the players will notice the change, too."

The Xplorers have the best record in af2 at 7-1 and these changes will take effect at their next home game on June 11. That game will be a rematch with the team that gave them their lone loss, the Quad City Steamwheelers.

Single-game Xplorers tickets start at $7 and can be purchased by calling 662-280-9120, visiting the DeSoto Civic Center box office, or by logging onto Ticketmaster.com.

The RiverKings are gearing up for the start of what should be an exciting 2005-2006 season with new head coach Kevin McClelland at the helm. Season tickets for the RiverKings start as low as $192 and are available now by calling 662-342-1755. You can also stop by the D.C.C. during regular business hours.
