BSE Attends Year End Celebration

Tuesday, May 24th - Condors Goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji and Condors Center Kevin St. Jacques will visit Fairview Elementary School and take part in their year-end celebration beginning at 1:00 p.m. Both Fuji and Jocko will be talking to kids about the importance of staying healthy and exercising during the summer months, as well as the Kern County Library's 2005 "Dragons, Dreams & Daring Deeds" summer reading program. Fairview Elementary School is located at 425 East Fairview Road in Bakersfield.

Don't forget to sign your kids up for this summer's Kern County Library's 2005 "Dragons, Dreams, & Daring Deeds" summer reading program. Sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Bakersfield Sports Entertainment, the program kicks off on Monday, June 13th and runs until Friday, July 30th. This popular reading program hits Kern County and gives children the chance to get free Blitz and Condors tickets for reading. Any child who reads ten (10) books prior to Friday, July 15th will receive a voucher good for two (2) complimentary terrace tickets to the Blitz regular season finale on Friday, July 15th against the Bossier- Shreveport Battle Wings. Children who read ten (10) books after July 15th will receive a voucher good for two (2) complimentary terrace tickets to any regular season 2005-2006 Condors home game during the month of October. Week in Review:

Thursday, May 19th - Blitz players Dwayne Johnson, Dejown Mandley, Mel Long, Jabari Jackson, and Alex Wallace were joined by the Blitz Bombshellz at the Downtown Business Association's monthly street faire.

Friday, May 20th - Blitz players Dan Burnett, Chris Bochen, Rennard Reynolds, Kika Kaululaau, Shawn King, and Mel Long were celebrity judges at Chipman Jr. High School's Oral Language Contest. Players judged students as they recited famous speeches and poems. The students were judged on their knowledge of the subject, tone, presentation, as well as knowledge of the author.

Friday, May 20th - Bakersfield Blitz battled the San Diego Riptide as KGET-TV 17 & 98.5 The Fox hosted the second annual Foam Football Fling and Foam Helmet Giveaway. All fans were encouraged to bring a foam football or other type of foam ball to be thrown onto the field when the Blitz scored its first touchdown. All of the balls collected will be donated to the Police Activities League.
