Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

The Riverhounds FC and the Harrisburg City Islanders battled in a scoreless match Saturday night when the teams met at Skyline Sports Complex in Harrisburg.

Each team was credited with eight shots. Riverhounds Goalkeeper Chris Robinson had three saves and the City Islander Goalie, Sam Bishop was credited with four.

The HOUNDS® best opportunity came at the 15 minute mark when David Flavius broke free and shot just wide of the goal. The Riverhounds had another opportunity after being awarded a free kick. Matt Mehler took the kick, but Bishop turned it off the crossbar, holding the Riverhounds scoreless.

At the end of the first half, it appeared that Harrisburg would score when Robinson had a reaction save, fending off the score.

"The boys continue to show a lot of spirit," commented head coach Gene Klein. "We're disappointed. We defended well, but we need to be better on the attack."

The Riverhounds return home on Friday June 2nd when they'll host the division leading Richmond Kickers. The match features fireworks and a salute to the World Cup. Tickets are available at the Falconi Field Box Office.
