
RiverHawks sign rookie outfielder

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks have added a rookie outfielder.
Rockford's only professional team announced today that it has signed Bud Long. Long hit .356 with six home runs and 37 RBI in 44 games for Division II Georgia Southwestern State University. He stole 10 bases in 12 tries for the Hurricanes. This summer, he hit .263 without an RBI in 16 games with the Macon Pinetoppers of the Peach State League, an amateur circuit.
The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season.
