
RiverHawks sign Japanese rookie

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks have made another trans-Pacific player signing.
The RiverHawks announced today that they have signed outfielder Takaaki Suetsugu to a contract. The 22-year-old is a resident of Yanagawa, Japan. The true rookie was a four-year member of the baseball team at Chuo University in Tokyo. Chuo plays in the Tohto University Baseball League.
The team's previous signings from the Eastern Hemisphere include Australian infielders Dan Floyd and Brad Dutton. Dutton made his professional debut with the RiverHawks last season.
The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007.
