Riverhawks go 3-0 over weekend

Quad City Riverhawks News Release


The Quad City Riverhawks started out the 3 game weekend in convincing form with a 27 point trouncing of the St. Louis Stunners 107-80. Chicago State graduate Tony Weeden led the Riverhawks attack with 30 points in just 3 quarters of playing time. Drake graduate David Bancroft chipped in 11 and pulled down a team high 9 rebounds off the bench.

Against the Peoria Kings the next night, the Riverhawks battled from behind the first half and were down by 6 at half 56-50. The Riverhawks came out to start the third quarter by running off 15 straight points with Drake graduate and ABA All-Star Lonnie Randolph connecting on his first 7 shots of the quarter on his way to a game high 35 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. Weeden chipped in 21 and Missouri Baptist College graduate Ryan Edwards had 20 points and pulled down a game high 12 rebounds. The final score was Quad City 113 - Peoria 99.

The Riverhawks headed to Sauk Valley for Super Bowl Sunday and their 3rd game in as many nights. The game was a tight battle as the Riverhawks held off a pesky Roller team 117-115 for their 20th victory of the season. The Riverhawks were led by Weeden with 31 points, a team high 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Bancroft put in another solid effort off the bench with a personal best 24 points on 9 for 9 field goal shooting (1 of 1 from the 3 point arc) and grabbing 7 boards.
