Riverfront Stadium Set to Host Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced that renovated Riverfront Stadium will play host to the 2013 Midwest Collegiate Conference Baseball Tournament April 30 through May 3. Five teams from the MCC will play in the event which will feature eight to nine games.

The opening game of the tournament is set to begin at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 30, followed by two more games that day. Three games are scheduled to be played on Wednesday, May 1, starting at noon, while two games are set to be played on Thursday, May 2 beginning at noon. The tournament championship will be played at 3:30 pm on Thursday, or at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 3, if a double-elimination game is required.

"The Bucks are excited to be able to partner with the MCC again and bring back this highly competitive event to the Cedar Valley," said Bucks General Manager Dan Corbin. "This tournament will help kick off a great season of baseball in Waterloo and we're pleased to bring in an event like this which will have a positive impact on the local economy and quality of life."

"The Midwest Collegiate Conference is thrilled to be back at Riverfront Stadium for our 2013 MCC Baseball Championship," said MCC Commissioner Rick Sanders. "This season's abbreviated regular season schedule coupled with competitive parity from top to bottom in the MCC set the table for an outstanding nine games April 30 - May 3."

The Midwest Collegiate Conference links seven private universities and colleges in an athletic affiliation featuring 17 varsity level sports for men and women. MCC sports compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and routinely send qualifying teams and individuals to NAIA national tournaments. MCC schools are located in a few of the best locations in America's Heartland; cities ranging from the metropolitan Des Moines and Quad Cities to the quaint Oskaloosa. All schools in the conference are four-year institutions with enrollments ranging from 600 to 3,200.

The Bucks will open the 2013 season at home versus the St. Cloud Rox on May 29. Season tickets, group outings, and single-game tickets are currently on sale.
