Charleston Lowgators News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (December 18) â The Columbus Riverdragons defeated the North Charleston Lowgators 86-83 in a see-saw battle on Wednesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Tang Hamilton led six scorers in double figures with 17 points including seven in the fourth quarter. The Riverdragons used a 9-0 run to begin the final period to propel themselves ahead by as many as nine.
Columbus head coach Jeff Malone said, "I don't worry about us on offense. We win games with rebounding and our effort on the defensive end. Tang (Hamilton) and Nate (Johnson) had good games and so did Jeremy Veal."
The Lowgators led the game 67-63 at the end of three periods, but began the fourth quarter without scoring for over three minutes. Corey Benjamin had a game-high 26 and Tierre Brown chipped in with 22 for North Charleston.
"We made poor decisions in transition, we let the ball into the post with no pressure, and we miss free-throws. That was the story of the fourth quarter," said Lowgators coach Doug Marty.
Lowgators leading point-man, Sedric Webber, was held scoreless for the first time all year.
The Riverdragons (6-6) will face Greenville on December 21st, while the Lowgators (7-8) will host Huntsville on Friday night.
