Riverdragons Coaches Clinic Announced

COLUMBUS, Ga., (January 8, 2003) - Head coach Jeff Malone and assistant coach Rob Werdann will conduct the second annual Columbus Riverdragons Coaches Clinic Thursday, January 16 at Comer Gymnasium in Columbus. The clinic begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to local youth basketball coaches.

The Riverdragons Coaches Clinic aims each season to equip basketball coaches in the Columbus-area with skill and conditioning drills to be used in their own individual practices with local players. The Riverdragons Coaches Clinic is sponsored locally by Columbus Parks and Recreation and the Riverdragons.

The coaches clinic will be conducted during the Riverdragons final practice before Friday's home game (Jan. 17) against N. Charleston. The Riverdragons coaching staff will break down the team's drills as they take place in practice. Coaches attending the clinic will be provided with a practice schedule including a brief description of the drills employed by the Riverdragons that evening.

Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone is a 13-year NBA veteran currently enjoying his fourth year as a head coach in pro basketball. Malone led the Riverdragons to the NBDL Semifinals last season during the league's inaugural year.

Coach Werdann, the all-time blocked shots leader at St. John's University, has three years of professional coaching experience and also played three seasons in the NBA with Denver and New Jersey.
