Richmond RiverDogs News Release
The Richmond RiverDogs are now 19-20-3 after going 1-1-1 last week. The âDogs are in a third place tie in the Eastern Division, tied with Elmira with two games in hand. The âDogs are home Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday to continue a seven game homestand again this week.

Wednesday, January 19 vs. Elmira 7:35 PM
GAME NOTES: The 13th of 17 meetings and the sixth of eight in Richmond. The âDogs are 6-6 vs. the Jackals, 3-2 at home. Jonathan Gagnon has 11 points vs. the Jackals. Jason Sessa has 22 vs. Richmond. The Jackals have out-scored the âDogs by 13 on special teams.
Friday, January 21 vs. Motor City 7:35 PM
GAME NOTES: The second of six meetings and the second of two in Richmond. The clubs will also meet twice in Roanoke at the end of the season. âDogs beat the Mechanics 3-2 in the first meeting. Richmond is 4-3-1 vs. the Central Division. Motor City is 0-6 vs. the East.
Saturday, January 22 vs. Kalamazoo 7:35 PM
GAME NOTES: The fourth and final meeting of the season and the second of two in Richmond. âDogs are 2-1 vs. the Wings, 1-0 at home. David Hymovitz and Ryan Prentice have four points vs. the Wings. Yannick Carpentier has six vs. the âDogs. The Wings have out-shot the âDogs 122-61 in three games.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Wednesday, January 12 vs. Danbury WIN 4-3
GAME NOTES: The âDogs jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and held off a late Danbury rally to beat the first place Trashers. Mark Turner and Francis Belanger scored two goals. Turner added two assists. The clubs combined for 92 PIM. The âDogs scored four goals on just 19 shots.
Friday, January 14 vs. Adirondack LOSS 4-3
GAME NOTES: The Frostbite erupted for three first period goals and held off a âDogs rally. Richmond out-shot Adirondack 34-23. Scott Drevitch had a goal and assist for the Frostbite. Brian Goudie had three assists for the âDogs. The âDogs lost a one-goal game in regulation for just the second time this season.
Saturday, January 15 vs. Adirondack LOSS 1-0 (SO)
GAME NOTES: The âDogs and Frostbite battled through 60 scoreless and penalty free minutes. The âDogs played their second 1-0 shootout game in a week and Nathan Grobins had a shutout in regulation for the second time in three starts. Hugo Belanger scored twice in the 11 round shootout.
DOG BITES: The âDogs have allowed only seven goals in their last four games.
Richmond and Adirondack played a 0-0 regulation game Saturday with no penalties called on either team. This was the first penalty free game in 'Dogs history. It was Richmond's thrid 0-0 regulation game in club history and their second in a week. It was the 'Dogs first 1-0 shootout loss. The 11 round shootout Saturday was the 'Dogs second longest (they had a 13 round shootout vs. Ft. Wayne in February last season). The 'Dogs are 2-1-1 on a seven game homestand. Richmond is 6-0 this season when held to under 20 shots on goal. Nathan Grobins has two regulation shutouts in three starts with Richmond. Richmond has played four straight games decided by one goal.
The 'Dogs took only their second regulation one goal loss of the season Friday vs. Adirondack. Brent Belecki made his 'Dogs debut Friday. Trevor Senn returned from IR Friday. The 'Dogs are now carrying three goalies and eight veterans (one more than the UHL game night lineup limit of seven). David Hymovitz and Mark Turner are tied for 14th in the league in scoring. Trevor Senn is third in penalty minutes. Kyle Sheen leads UHL rookies in penalty minutes and is second among rookies in game winning goals.
