Tennessee River Sharks News Release

Chattanooga TN.---The River Sharks took on the Dayton Bulldogs Thursday in Dayton Ohio. In the beginning it looked as if the Bulldogs were going to eat the Sharks for lunch. The scoring started when Bulldogs' Quarterback Antonio Davis threw a 29 yard touchdown pass to Receiver Anthony Tyus only two minutes into the first quarter. The Davis/Tyus connection went on to score two more touchdowns in the first half, and Tyus totaled 150 receiving yards for the game. Davis threw another three touchdowns to Receivers Deyshawn Jones, Lance Wilson, and James Frazier. By the end of the game, Davis had thrown for 311 yards, and he was the lead rusher with 22 yards. The only points the River Sharks got in the first half was a 34 yd pass from Anthony Winn to Roderick Russell and a 32 yard pass to Kevin Joynes from Winn. Max McCoy recovered a fumble in the end zone for the third score. Craig Richard added a 30 yard Field Goal. Twenty four pts in the first half, while the bulldogs scored a remarkable forty five points.

Coach Carter said, "I thought we were flat in the beginning and not very sharp the Bulldogs have a good team and Antonio is a good QB. Antonio is the type of player that can take a ball game over. We had to make several adjustments in the second half to at least slow the Bulldogs down."

That's exactly what the Sharks did holding the Bulldogs to only seven points in the second half. This is beginning to be an everyday thing for the Sharks last week against the Rage the Sharks were down 22-0 and came back roaring out scoring the rage 21- 34 scoring in the second half. Against Dayton the Sharks were down 45-24 and out scored the Bulldogs 7- 32 in the second half. Coach Carter said , "These are good teams and we have got to put all four quarters together because when you are down you have to play up hill all night I even began to cramp up a little that's how hard it is. You know you're in a battle when the coach is cramping maybe we need to run more also."

Next week the Sharks face a 4-0 Lakeland team that has been avg. about 60 pts a game. Coach Carter said," Lakeland is also a good team and we will have to play our best." The Lakeland game will be April 22 in Chattanooga at Camp Jordan Arena. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
