ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats were defeated by the Providence Bruins 5-0 Saturday at Times Union Center in front of a crowd of over 6,000 fans. The Bruins used four second period goals to come away with the win to improve their record to 38-19-5-4. Albany's record moves to 34-28-2-3.

Colton Hargrove gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 10:58 of the first period and Alex Grant made it 2-0 at 0:57 of the second period. Austin Czarnik followed later in the second with a power-play goal at 5:56. Peter Cehlarik then scored at 14:41 and Danton Heinen tallied a power-play goal at 17:22 to give Providence a 5-0 lead heading into the third period.
Ken Appleby registered 24 saves on 29 shots and Dan Vladar made 34 saves in his first career shutout.
The Devils travel to Providence Friday to take on the Bruins at Dunkin' Donuts Center for a 7:05 pm puck drop.
