
River Dragons End LumberKings' Win Streak

CLINTON, IOWA- On Monday night the Clinton LumberKings four-game win streak came to an end at the hands of the Alton River Dragons, the final score was 3-2.
In the first inning the River Dragons got out in front, Eddie King Jr. (Louisville) singled in a run giving Alton an early advantage 1-0.
In the fifth, Noah Bush (Howard Lake CC) extended the lead by two, with an RBI groundout making it 2-0.
The score would stay 2-0, until the bottom half of the eighth. Clinton scored two in the frame. The tying run came off the bat of Jeremy Conforti (College of DuPage) who drove in Cade Moss (Iowa) with a sacrifice fly.
The River Dragons responded immediately in the top of the ninth. Gage Mestas (Pima CC) drove in Troy Johnson (Davidson) on a ground ball to second. Mestas reached on the play after an error at second base.
Clinton could not score in the bottom half and lost the ball game 3-2.
The LumberKings on the mound continued to throw the strikeout pitch. Between starter Seth Clausen (Minnesota) and Ben Beutel (Iowa), the LumberKings struck out 15 River Dragons.
Clinton (10-10) falls back into second place in the Great River Division and Alton (12-7) continues to lead in the Prairie Land Division.
