Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Dave McCarty went 2 for 2, including a double and a two-run homer as Sacramento beat the Beavers for the second straight night by the score of 4-2 on Friday at PGE Park.

The first action of the game came when McCarty hit a two-run shot in the third, putting the River Cats on top 2-0. Later in the fifth, Portland right-hander Dennis Tankersley got into trouble, walking Graham Koonce with the bases loaded to make it 3-0. Adam Mulhuse would add a solo shot in the eighth.

The Beavers avoided their second straight shutout after Tagg Bozied hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth to cut the Sacramento lead to 4-2. The closest thing to a Beaver rally came by way of an Alex Fernandez deep fly-out to center in the bottom of the ninth with one on that would have tied the game.

Rich Harden (3-1) got the win for the River Cats, striking out seven in five innings.

Notes...RHP Charles Nagy, RHP Carlton Loewer and LHP Randy Keisler were all called up to the San Diego Padres Friday. RHP Johnny Hunter was transferred to the Beavers from Class AA Mobile and LHP Rob Ramsay was optioned from Class A Lake Elsinore.
