WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Reno trimmed a three-run deficit down to one, but the Aces would get no closer Saturday night, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field.

After the Aces jumped on the board early with a run in the first, Sacramento scored the game's next four runs. A two-run, seventh-inning rally for Reno brought the Aces to within a run, but they failed to push across the tying score.

Aces starter Tom Layne (0-2) took the loss Saturday, surrendering four runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings of work. The Aces bullpen delivered its third-straight dominant effort, as three Reno relievers combined to hold the River Cats hitless and scoreless over the game's final 3.2 frames.

Sacramento starter Fabio Castro (1-0) earned the victory, scattering a run on four hits with five strikeouts over five innings. Evan Scribner-the River Cats' fourth pitcher of the evening-slammed the door in the ninth for the save.

At the plate for Reno, Cole Gillespie and Cody Ransom collected two hits apiece. Randy Ruiz and A.J. Pollock each drove in a run on the night.

The Aces and River Cats will meet again on Sunday afternoon. RHP Barry Enright (1-0, 1.54 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Travis Banwart (1-0, 9.58 ERA) counters for Sacramento. First pitch from Raley Field is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.

Reno returns home to Aces Ballpark on Saturday, April 21 to kick-off a four-game series. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
