Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - Oklahoma City beat Memphis for the second straight night with a 4-3 win Saturday night at AutoZone Park as the Redbirds dropped their ninth consecutive game.

Despite the Redbirds 3-0 lead by the third inning, the RedHawks tied it up with a solo shot to left field by Brian Bixler in the fifth and a pinch-hit two-run homer by Scott Moore in the sixth. The score remained tied until the ninth inning with Redbirds reliever Eduardo Sanchez on the mound. Justin Ruggiano hit a double off Sanchez before Cedric Hunter's error in right field sent him home in the next at-bat for what would be the game winning run.

Sanchez was pegged with the loss, giving up the winning run over 0.2 innings pitched. Fresh off the disabled list, RedHawks reliever Xavier Cedeno picked up the win with one scoreless inning of work while Jose Valdez nailed down his second save shutting down the Redbirds' offense in the ninth.

Memphis starter Nick Additon allowed one run on five hits and four walks while striking out four over five innings. Oklahoma City starter Henry Sosa gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits while walking one and fanning five in five innings.

The Redbirds and RedHawks play tomorrow afternoon with first pitch at 1:35 p.m. Memphis sends righty Brandon Dickson to the hill to face Oklahoma City right-hander Paul Clemens. It's Kid's Opening Day at AutoZone Park as Kids Club packs will be available for pick-up. A Kids Announcer of the Game will call the first three innings of Redbirds batters and kids 12 and under will be able to run the bases after the game.
