
Rivalry starts between Juniors and Olympiques

Montreal, February 21st, 2009 - Tonight at the Verdun Auditorium, the Juniors hosted the Gatineau Olympiques for the fourth time this season. After a devastating loss on Friday against Victoriaville, the Juniors needed to get their confidence back and finish the game with a win. The Juniors' efforts paid off as they left with the win with a score of 3-1. Juniors leave on the road with a record of 27-26-2-3.
The Montreal Juniors were strong against Gatineau throughout the first period. Louis-Marc Aubry gave his team an early lead by scoring his 13th of the season assisted by Hubert Genest. In the second period, the Juniors earned six penalties while the Olympiques earned five. Neither teams were able to brake the scoreboard during powerplays. The score remained 1-0. Tomas Parkes finally put one through Clermont at 17:26 into the third period. Seconds after, his teammate Nicolas Chouinard assured the Junior with the win, scoring his 20th of the season. Olympiques' Benjamin Laliberté would not leave without a goal and defeated Bérubé at 19:54.
Juniors' net minder Jean-Francois Bérubé denied 20/21 shots in the win while his opponent Maxime Clermont made 29/32 stops in the loss.
Up next, the Juniors are getting ready to leave for Lewiston to face off the MANEiacs on Wednesday February 23rd at 19:00. After resting for two days, Pascal Vincent's team will hit the road again towards Gatineau to face off the Olympiques in the run for the playoffs, this time at 19:30. We will have to wait until March 4th to see our Juniors play at home against the Gatineau Olympiques once again.
