Los Angeles Riptide News Release

CARSON, CA (Tuesday, June 13, 2006) - The Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) acquired midfielder J.J. Morrissey from the Rochester Rattlers, the team announced today. In exchange, the Riptide traded attackman Colin Doyle. The Riptide claimed Doyle off the waiver wire earlier today, before trading him to Rochester.

"J.J. is considered by many to be one of the most underrated college players in the nation," said L.A. Riptide General Manager G.W. Mix. "He is a tremendous athlete and fierce competitor. Throughout the 2006 season, he was a threat at both ends of the field and helped lead Virginia to a 17-0 record and its sixth national championship."

A 5'9", 175 pound midfielder, Morrissey was selected 28th overall in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft by Rochester, but did not play in any games for the Rattlers. Morrissey was a three-year starter at defensive midfield for the University of Virginia.

The L.A. Riptide does not have a game this week, but will return to action when it hosts the San Francisco Dragons Saturday, July 22 at the Track and Field Complex at The Home Depot Center at 1:00 p.m. (PT).

Tickets for the Riptide's inaugural season at The Home Depot Center are on sale now, with season ticket packages beginning at just $96 (adults)/ $80 (youth 16 & under). For more information or to purchase your tickets today, please call toll free at 1-866-4-LAX-TIX.
