
Ripknees top Panthers in overtime on three-point shot

Minneapolis, MN. The ABA Detroit Panthers lost on a 3-point shot with 3 seconds in overtime to the Minnesota Ripknees, 120-119. The Panthers led by as many as 17 and by 10 in the fourth quarter before Minnesota tied the game at 92 with both teams having chances to win in the final 50 seconds.
Detroit got a rebound with 35 seconds left, but could not get the ball over half court and the Ripknees got a 3D to take a 115-114 lead. Detroit's Brian Woodland then had a chance to give the Panthers the lead, but could only hit one of two free throws. Then, Minnesota's Tyrell Sledge was called for traveling with Detroit having a chance to win. The Panther's Brian Woodland was called for stepping on the sideline and gave Minnesota one final shot, but Jamal Staten's 3-pointer was off the mark. Staten had 42 points and 13 rebounds. Detroit was led by Quinell Brown and Ty Mack with 25 each, Willie Wallace had a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. For more information, visit www.detroitpanthers.com or www.abalive.com.
