Rio Grande Valley FC Hits the Road Following a Three-Game Home Stand

EDINBURG, Texas - The 2023 USL Championship season enters its fourth week as Rio Grande Valley FC (WEST: 0-0-3, 3 points) prepares to make its first road trek of the year as they face Detroit City FC (EAST: 1-2-0, 3pts) on Saturday, April 1 at 3:00 p.m. CST at Keyworth Stadium. The match will be live nationally on ESPN+. This is the first all-time meeting between the sides.
RGV FC: Let's face it, three home games - three draws are not the most desirable of results, but it is still a positive looking into the perspective of a side who is juggling a complicated roster mix which has seen a variety of lineups and formations in just these three opening matches.
There is no lack of chances created, the team is reaching the final third often; it is just a matter of putting the ball in the back of the net and regaining that rhythm to ensure that games are finished well without any silly mishaps defensively.
As RGV FC prepare to play a league road match at Detroit City FC, who are coming off a bitter 0-1 defeat at home, they look to maintain posture and play the shorter field well enough to cause complications on both ends. The Toros are used to playing an 80-yard-wide field at home and must adjust to a slightly less wide field up north this Saturday.
Look for a fast pace attacking scheme from RGV as they tighten the core of the field to avoid another counter error which could cost them three points or another potential draw if not precise on the night in their defensive duties.
Detroit City FC: The home side looks to lock in success in front of their loyal fanbase after a long night at Keyworth Stadium on March 25th which saw the side lose a tight 1-0 battle against Eastern conference opponent Indy Eleven.
On the year, Detroit City FC have allowed three goals, one per match. Their only win of the season thus far came on a night in which they defeated El Paso Locomotive 3-1 on the road on March 18.
Under favorable home conditions, they look to complicate the RGV FC plans to execute well in the possession game and hope to limit the attacking chances of the Toros who are eager to strike well and often.
