Rio Grande Valley Downs Bakersfield
January 6, 2010 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
BOISE, ID Jan. 5, 2010 - Erie's Alade Aminu raised the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase bar in Wednesday's opening game, finishing with 30 points and 23 points in a win over Reno. Joey Dorsey did his best to clear that bar in the second game.
On assignment from the Houston Rockets, Dorsey tallied 27 points on 11-for-11 shooting, to go with 22 rebounds, as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (11-4) got back on track with a 115-107 win over the Bakersfield Jam.
"I told my teammates that I was going to come out and have a big rebounding game," said Dorsey, who averages 13.0 rebounds. "I don't think I played all that well against Albuquerque and I wanted to redeem myself."
Julian Sensley added 19 points and Garrett Temple and Antonio Anderson each had 17 for the Vipers, who dropped their opening game in the Showcase to Albuquerque.
Bakersfield (3-13) was led by 24 points and nine rebounds from Amara Sy. James Jackson and Jeremy Wise each added 19 points for the Jam.
Bakersfield returns to Qwest Arena tomorrow for a matchup with Iowa. Rio Grand Valley heads to Iowa this weekend for a double-dip with the Eastern Conference leading Energy.
