Erie Edges Reno At 2010 NBA D-League Showcase

January 6, 2010 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

BOISE, ID Jan. 5, 2010 - With more than 2,000 kids from local elementary schools dotting the stands at Qwest Arena, the Erie BayHawks and Reno Bighorns put on a great show in the opening game of Day 3 of the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase.

Erie's Alade Aminu turned in one of the top individual performances of the season, finishing with a career-high 30 points and 23 rebounds, as the BayHawks recovered in overtime to defeat the Bighorns, 92-88. Cedric Jackson added 17 points, 11 assists and four steals.

"It was a fight out there. It feels really good to get a win. We've been on a bit of a losing run," said Aminu, a rookie out of Georgia Tech. "I really didn't even know what I was doing stat wise. I was just trying to bring energy and get us a win."

With the game seemingly in hand at the end of regulation, Erie (5-11) botched an inbounds play, with John Bryant fouling Reno's Mo Charlo as they both went after a tipped ball. Charlo hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 80-80. On the final possession of regulation, Jackson drove and found Bryant, who missed a layup from point blank range.

Aminu scored four quick points in overtime to give the Erie a lead it wouldn't relinquish the rest of the way. Jackson and Mike Gansey made key free throws down the stretch to seal it.

Desmon Farmer, who missed a layup with 28 seconds that would have given Reno a one-point lead, led the Bighorns (5-10) with 20 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists. Russell Robinson added 18 points on 6-for-18 shooting.

Erie plays again tomorrow afternoon against Los Angeles. Reno visits Utah Friday night.
