RimRockers tame Blackhawks

Little Rock, AR. Tim Ellis of the Bellevue Blackhawks scored 46 points and grabbed 16 rebounds but it was not enough to contain the Arkansas RimRockers. The RimRockers defeated the Blackhawks 120-105 and improved their record to 27-5, which placed them in second place in the ABA Power Rankings.

The RimRockers, led by Kareem Reid's 28 points, jumped out to an early 10 point lead in the first quarter, but the Blackhawks kept pace. The RimRockers went into halftime narrowly leading the Blackhawks 66-60. Both teams made 21 field goals in the first half and the Blackhawks out-shot the RimRockers from the 3-point line 50% to 43%. However, the Blackhawks got into foul trouble early in the half and the RimRockers were able to capitalize by shooting 74 percent from the free-throw line and scoring 25 points.

The second half was more productive for the RimRockers as they outscored Bellevue 54-45. Along with Reid's 28 points, Todd Day added 26, Brandon Dean added 18, Brian Jackson had 17 anbd Shawnson Johnson contribed 11. The lead changed four times and the Blackhawks tied the game five times before Arkansas came away with the victory.
