ABA posts final Playoff Power Rankings

February 28, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The ABA professional basketball league today announced its final Playoff Power Rankings as a prelude to the league playoffs that begin Friday, March 4th in Kansas City.

The rankings were determined by a number of factors including won/loss record, number of games played, difficulty of schedule, point differential. The final rankings included a couple of surprises including the fact that the Nashville Rhythm was not included.

According to the Nashville management, "We've lost several players and felt we were not ready for the playoffs; we decided to open a spot in the playoffs for a more competitive team."

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "That was a generous thing to do; Nashville worked hard this season, but we understand their position." Newman added, "And there were a couple of teams with losing records, but when you looked at the very difficult schedule, the closeness of the games they played, and the actual point differential, we felt that they were very competitive."

The matchups will be posted on Tuesday, March 1st on the ABA website.
