RimRockers Robinson Plays For And 1 Team

April 16, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Arkansas RimRockers News Release

RimRockers Albert Robinson left Little Rock on April 15 to play with the And 1 basketball team in Omaha, Nebraska. The And 1 team extended the invitation to Robinson earlier last week to begin playing on April 16.

Robinson tried out in May of 2004 and played three games before coming to the RimRockers organization. He injured his knee during veteran's camp and did not return to the RimRockers until late January.

Robinson was chosen for the And 1 team because of his speed and his jumping ability. (He is 5'8 with a 44 inch vertical.)

"All the tricks and ball handling things are real," Robinson said. "Individuals tell children not to look at the And 1 players because they don't teach the fundamentals of basketball. It is fundamentals, but with added entertainment value. It's creativity at its finest."

Not only do the players get to entertain the crowds of more than 5,000, but they get to meet a variety of people.

"At every different city, we wear a different jersey," he said. "We get to travel, meet people and see the way different players live. The NBA and the And 1 lifestyle is the same except for the tricks. In And 1 it's no blood, foul. It's entertaining basketball, and that's what I do--entertain."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
