Aviators land in Ohio

Canton, OH. The new ABA team in Northeast Ohio has been named the OHIO AVIATORS. Owner Joe Lewandowski announced the new name at a Press Conference on Thursday at the Canton Civic Center. The team name was chosen to honor the long-standing connection that Ohio has to aviation and flying.

"We are excited about the team and we spent a great deal of time and effort into picking just the right name," said Lewandowski. "The name will underlaine the historic connection that the State of Ohio has with aviation and this connection will be an important theme with the team. Going all the way back to the Wright Brothers, Ohio has been instrumental in the field of aviation. Since our fast paced ABA team will be flying through the air with spins and dunks, we thought that the Aviators name would be a perfect match."

The Aviators are very actively building the structure of its organization and team. "Our season begins in November of 2005 so we are very busy organizing the team," stated Lewandowski. "We are interested in partnering with the communities of Northeast Ohio to offer exciting professional basketball that is family oriented and reasonably priced," said the owner. He continued, "We are looking forward to the support of the community and we plan to build a team that will merit the loyal support of all basketball fans."
