
Riley returns to Patriots

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., March 14 - The Fayetteville Patriots announced today that they have re-acquired 6-11, 275 lb. center Roderick Riley, one of their original 2005-06 draft picks, from the NBA Development League's available player pool. Riley was re-signed Monday night, and was scheduled to arrive in Fayetteville in time Tuesday night's game against the Austin Toros at the Crown Coliseum.
Riley most recently played in Korea for Mobis Pheobus, where he averaged 12.3 points and 8.2 rebounds in 12 games.
Riley played in 18 games for the Patriots, starting 12, before leaving the team in mid-January. He averaged 13.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in Fayetteville. He participated in NBA training camp with the Atlanta Hawks last fall and played with the USBL's Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs last summer, averaging 15.2 points and a league-leading 10.2 rebounds in 21 games while earning secondt team All-USBL honors.
Riley played collegiately at Prairie View A&M, earning second team All-SWAC honors as a junior and honorable mention his sophomore and senior seasons. He ranked in the top ten in rebounding in the SWAC his final three seasons and finished his career as Prairie View's 15th all-time leading rebounder with 640 boards.
The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Thirty-eight (38) players have been called up to the NBA on 56 separate occasions. Eleven (11) former D-League coaches, six athletic trainers, 14 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.
