The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed veteran linebacker Alondra Johnson to their practice roster.

Johnson is entering his 16th season in the CFL. He has played the last 13 seasons in Calgary after playing his first two years with the B.C. Lions. In 245 career games, Johnson has tallied 1,084 defensive tackles, 46 quarterback sacks, 43 tackles for losses, and 17 interceptions.

Johnson has been named a CFL All-Star three times in his career and has been a Western Division All-Star five times. He was also named the Western Division Most Outstanding Defensive Player and set a record for most defensive tackles in a Grey Cup game with seven in 1998.

"Alondra provides us with veteran leadership on and off the field," stated Riders head coach Danny Barrett. "He has proven himself countless times in big games and is just what we were looking for heading into the final stretch and into the playoffs."
